The Sewing Guide That Helps You to Sew Like a Professional

Your dressmaking skills should be updated as often as possible. Hi-tech fabrics, interlinings, notions and attitude to sewing just gets better, and so you need to be in the know!

You will be working with many different fabrics & your sample collection will contain the finest materials such as Silks, Chiffon, and Organza through to day wear suitings such as Wool Crepe, Venetian, Gabardine and Linton Tweeds. Also to include Micro-fibres, evening wear Polyesters, Taffetas, Satin and Laces through to Velvets, Stretch wovens, Knits, Leathers and Lycras plus so much more.

We will stop at each section to discuss the fabrics natural characteristics and handling, emphasise will be placed on design choice when to use particular fabrics method of making e.g. whether you should use traditional, couture or manufacturing techniques, general construction this will include everything from seam style, correct thread use, machine needles and machine feet to professional finishing techniques, hems, bindings, stitch guidance, not forgetting pressing and laundering.

You will compile a full collection of samples to add to your inspirational portfolio.
