A couple of weeks ago I was looking through some old photo’s. The very young me looked great in dresses. Over the past few years I haven’t made many dresses as lots of the patterns were sleeveless. I hate myself in sleeveless tops & dresses as I feel very exposed. If like me you have problems deciding what to wear first thing in the morning a dress is a good option, as you don’t have to choose which shirt goes with which skirt or trousers. A dress is a dress so the only decision is which shoes. (this can take quite a while in my case). Having seen the photo’s I decided to look through my old patterns & came across this one.
I don’t remember making this one but the pattern has been altered. So I’m going to give it a go. I’ve chosen one of the fabrics out of the shop. This lovely spotted cotton.
Going through my stash I found a plain cotton which will make the piping. I couldn’t have found a better match if I’d gone out & matched the fabric.
So I’ve used something out of my stash as well getting a new dress. I cut this dress out & tailor tacked it before I came to work this morning, so it’s very early stages. I’m trying to decide if I should line the skirt or make an underskirt. I will be using fine sheer fusible for the interfacing of collar & front facings. I love piping edges so I really looking forward to making this dress. I’m going on holiday in a couple of weeks so I’m hoping that the dress will be complete by then. Fingers crossed. I’ll keep you informed of the progress.
