Make the Classic Jacket as Created by Mlle. Chanel
1st March 2023 @ 10:00 am - 3rd March 2023 @ 4:00 pm
One event on 24th January 2022 at 10:00 am
Make the Classic Jacket as Created by Mlle. Chanel. A three day course for you to make your own personally fitted jacket in the style originally created by Mlle. Chanel.
You will need to provide your own toile in the style made popular by Mlle. Chanel (ie: box shaped jacket with or without front fastenings & collar) for fitting on the first day.
Once your toile has been fitted & your own alterations have been cut in to your pattern you will be taken through the process of matching stripes & checks in your own fabric to make a perfect start to your jacket.
We will then cover all the techniques to make your jacket including, block machined lining/interlining, overlapping seams, setting in sleeves, enclosed collars, hand finishing & braids.
A fantastic opportunity to make this classic style of jacket which is very popular at the moment, under the guidance of an experienced tailoress.
An open weave check is recommended for this course with a silk dupion lining.
A full list of fabrics needed & recommended patterns will be sent on booking the course.
Our workshops are run from our workroom above the English Couture Company shop in the beautiful village of Syston in Leicestershire. The room is light & airy & will take up to 8 students. We have Janome Memory craft 6600 machine for all our students. This means you don’t have to bring your machine with you. There are also overlockers available if needed. We have a good supply of the basic sewing equipment for you to use on the course.
There is always tea, coffee & biscuits provided at any time during the day. You will have to provide your own lunch. There are shops near to the studio where you can buy lunch or Ann, our friendly sandwich maker will deliver freshly made food which you can order when you get here. You can bring a packed lunch as an alternative.
The shop is available for students to buy anything they need for their projects during the day. You are very welcome to shop after the course finishes.
All our full day courses start at 10am & finish at around 4pm. Due to the comprehensive knowledge & personalised tuition operated throughout all the workshops, they can sometimes over run.
