Match Your Checks
April 13 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm£95
Match Your Checks. The attention to detail and the impeccable craftsmanship is the true essence of couture. This workshop is all about the preparation and matching of checks, stripes & chevrons. In the couture workrooms this would be one persons responsibility only. A true master of his or her profession. A unique formula will be given for jackets & coats, so you are able to match seams all around & shoulder seams. We will discuss how to apply a collar in the traditional way so the checks match at the collar through to lapels. We will of course cover matching checks & patterns for pockets
A simple way to cut out two layers of fabric so they are both exactly the same will result in a perfectly matching skirt seam. Tips on keeping those checks matching whilst stitching are also included.
All course materials are included in the price.
Our workshops are run from our workroom above the English Couture Company shop in the beautiful village of Syston in Leicestershire. The room is light & airy & will take up to 8 students. We have Janome Memory craft 6600 machine for all our students. This means you don’t have to bring your machine with you. There are also overlockers available if needed. We have a good supply of the basic sewing equipment for you to use on the course.
There is always tea, coffee & biscuits provided at any time during the day. You will have to provide your own lunch. There are shops near to the studio where you can buy lunch or Ann, our friendly sandwich maker will deliver freshly made food which you can order when you get here. You can bring a packed lunch as an alternative.
The shop is available for students to buy anything they need for their projects during the day. You are very welcome to shop after the course finishes.
All our full day courses start at 10am & finish at around 4pm. Due to the comprehensive knowledge & personalised tuition operated throughout all the workshops, they can sometimes over run.
