Sample Collection II – Working With Finer Fabrics
November 30 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm£95.00
Sample Collection II. This day has been designed to help with the conversion of finer fabrics into everyday beautiful garments. A superb range of samples will be made to include silk blouses with the addition of padded facings to eliminate the use of shoulder pads. Next you will set a sleeve into an armhole using a very fine, difficult cloth. This will include armhole finishing, sleeve head variations and delicately bound placket openings.
During these projects you will discuss the cutting out, preparation and handling of fabrics such as slippery silks and difficult polyesters, plus stitch advise.
Now for a beautiful way of shaping and applying fine bias binding with no stitches to be seen.
And the Grande Finale – ‘the one thread dart’. See it to believe it! No ends! No finishing off! Can also be used for pin tucks and mid pleats.
All course materials are included in the price.
Our workshops are run from our workroom above the English Couture Company shop in the beautiful village of Syston in Leicestershire. The room is light & airy & will take up to 8 students. We have Janome Memory craft 6600 machine for all our students. This means you don’t have to bring your machine with you. There are also overlockers available if needed. We have a good supply of the basic sewing equipment for you to use on the course.
There is always tea, coffee & biscuits provided at any time during the day. You will have to provide your own lunch. There are shops near to the studio where you can buy lunch or Ann, our friendly sandwich maker will deliver freshly made food which you can order when you get here. You can bring a packed lunch as an alternative.
The shop is available for students to buy anything they need for their projects during the day. You are very welcome to shop after the course finishes.
All our full day courses start at 10am & finish at around 4pm. Due to the comprehensive knowledge & personalised tuition operated throughout all the workshops, they can sometimes over run.
