Unless you are doing a two hour, one to one basic course, we assume basic sewing skills. Such as, being able to work a sewing machine & having put together a simple garment.

Our courses run from 10am (sharp, get here earlier if possible) till 4pm. The courses do sometimes over run due to the personalised nature of the courses.

Everything you need to complete the course is provided for you unless otherwise stated.

Sewing machines & basic equipment are provided for courses.

Lunch is only provided on the Dressmakers Day out. You can order lunch when you get here or go to various outlet to get it. A packed lunch is welcomed.

No, an ordinary steam iron will stick all of our interfacings. See our videos for full instructions.

Yes, if you are booked on to any of our courses the shop is open to you. There is no minimum spend.


We try to dispatch our orders as soon as we can. Most go out the day the order is placed or the following day. We do sometimes get busy, so please allow 5 working days for dispatch. We only dispatch Monday- Friday. Parcels are sent by Royal Mail, unless a very big order when a courier is sent.

Yes, we do send out samples. We can’t sample everything so make sure you let us know what you want.

No, we don’t charge for small samples. If you require larger samples, please order 10cms from the website.


The shop is open by appointment only. You can make an appointment here.

If you are booking an appointment there is a minimum spend of £25.

We don’t open on a Saturday, except sometimes for our open days. These happen throughout the year & we are open from 10am -1pm. Dates are advertised on the home page & the blog  when they take place.

Our Interfacings & Pressing equipment is available all the time. Most of our fabrics & trimmings are ends of lines & so can’t be repeated. If there is something you would like to order, make sure you get enough to finish the project.
