The Point Presser & Clapper is made exclusively for the English Couture Company by an English craftsman. This point presser is made of tulip wood. (see photo if you have never seen a tulip tree). This piece of equipment is great for pressing open corners on collars & lapels and is a must for getting perfectly flat edges on tailored garments. The points on both ends makes it easy to use. It is perfectly balanced with the handle making using it a doddle.
To use the Clapper. This is for flattening edges & bulky points, pleats & collars. As well as pressing in creases on trousers.
First steam the area to be flattened, apply the clapper, press down firmly for a few seconds. The wood will absorb the steam & set the edges.
To use the Point Presser. This is for pressing open awkward seams such as collars, lapel points & narrow corners. Place the corner to be pressed open flat with the point inside, use a steam iron to open the seam. Turn the corner around to the other side as before & press.
See how to use the clapper on this clip from Terrific Tailored Trousers
